~Likes to do things that upset his Guardian on purpose (be it getting in to some sort of trouble or ordering him around while sitting on his shoulder)
~Carefully covets and protects anything that used to belong to his big sister Kiri
~Likes veggies and fried foods, but not in any combination (he hates fried squash)
~Secretly he knows he could do better in classes but doesn't want people to have to rely on him
~Misses his sister and wishes he could be more like her; strong and dependable

History : His older sister joined the academy almost as soon as she could, four years after it opened. Their parents were more than ready to let her learn how to use her new powers to try to help the giant inhabitants of their new home; they felt that it was partly their fault for letting the shades follow them.

He always looked up to Kiri, and wanted to be able to follow in her steps by joining the academy as soon as he was able to. However, the summer before he was going to join, she disappeared without a trace, leaving behind only her silver necklace. Irial had even more determination to get in to the academy to look for her and maybe find clues to her disappearance.

When partners were being chosen there was an odd number of people, leaving him behind. He would have had to wait another year or for a late applicant if Roisyn, Kiri's Guardian, hadn't stepped in to partner with him. Though he hates being left out and the last to be picked, he is grateful to be in the school, and hopes to get details about his sister's disappearance from Roisyn.

Strengths:
~Is never cut off from his element.
~The whip he carries helps him create and direct shock waves and 'sonic booms', which are noisy but effective weapons.
~He can land safely from high falls by spreading out his jacket and directing wind upwards under him, although it still hurts to land.
~Speed is one of his greatest attributes, and he's very fast, using the wind at his back to help him go faster.

Weaknesses:
~If he uses his powers inside it makes a mess.
~Will often get caught up in the moment and go overboard, creating winds or storms that he can't control.
~Doesn't remember that fire is fueled by wind and sometimes gets in to fights (personal or otherwise) that he can't win.
~Personal defense is often non-existent, relying on his speed to keep him out of the way.

Combined abilities: Although he can't control winds very well he can still cause strong gusts of winds. With Roisyn's ability to create thin needles of ice, he can send them towards enemies. Sometimes he loses control and the wind directions change, so Syn has to pay attention and be ready to turn the ice back to water if it gets sent back towards them or any allies with them.

Weapon: Whip. Kiri left it behind one year and he learned how to use it on his own. It has a feather tied on the end that he found, to help him focus on the shock waves it makes. He can also use it as it's meant to be intended, to hit and lacerate, though he doesn't like to.

~Kiri always said "Irial's very bright... he just chooses not to turn on his light."
~Even though he thinks it's cool that the Guardians are so big, he sometimes has nightmares about being stepped on or washed with their clothes.
~Will help Buchanan [link] , who he calls Bucky no matter what she says, with the firefly farm, and is trying to convince her to build a giant-firefly chariot.</sub>
